Mari Clarke

Hi everyone!  My name is Mari Clarke and I am excited to be joining the Paper and Ink Boutique team!  I live in Warman, Saskatchewan with my husband of 38 years.  We are semi-retired and recently moved to Warman to be closer to our two adult children.  Our daughter and her husband live here in Warman and our son lives in Saskatoon.  I substitute teach for the Prairie Spirit School Division when I am not in my craft room and my husband works part-time as a contractor.  I retired in 2019 from a 32 year teaching career and he retired from his cabinet door manufacturing business that he owned and operated for over 30 years.

I have always enjoyed doing something creative.  I love to paint in many different mediums, draw, art journal, and scrapbook and make cards.  I have been on many design teams over the years and have produced videos for YouTube for over five years.  I am currently designing for JustNick Digital Cut File Store, Vicki Boutin, Honey Bee Stamps, and Trinity Stamps.  I also do guest blog spots every month for Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine and I am a brand ambassador for Studio Light.  I also create classes for my website, MariClarke.com and I share weekly inspiration on Patreon.  I am busy, but I love it!

I look forward to creating classes and inspiration for you here at the Paper and Ink Boutique!  I can’t wait to see you in the classroom and to get to know you!

I have been teaching at The Paper and Ink Boutique for almost two years. I was so excited when I heard that we were getting a new scrapbooking store that I stalked their page prior to them opening....I was so excited when they put out the call for instructors, and even more excited when they said I could be part of the creative team. I love teaching and have met so many great people not only the ones who take my classes but also those shopping in the store. I have to admit that the creative team and staff at The Paper and Ink Boutique are pretty amazing!

I have been crafting my whole life, my parents were both very creative and passed that on, my Dad knit his own socks up to the week before he died and my mom at 80 is still knitting for her children and grandchildren. Although I do know how to knit I don't do it very often as I would much prefer to be Scrapbooking, and card making. Although just as much you can find me at the sewing machine sewing or quilting, as well as flower arranging. There are not many crafts I am not willing to try at least once.

I have been married to my husband Byron for 32 years and we have two very creative boys. I taught them young! Darrian doesn't do so many creative things right now but every now and then he will sit down and do a project. Andreas is always thinking and making something. All four of us are always working on something. As a family we have moved around quite a bit and in each community I have been found my paper arts tribe. I have taught paper art classes in Yellowknife at their teacher’s conferences and my former High School. I also owned my own Craft and Gift Basket store there. I am an avid teacher and truly take joy in seeing the pride in the face of my students be they 2 years old or 85!

I have a pretty big craft stash and with doing so many different crafts - I have my very own craft room that seems to bust out into the dining room regardless of what I do. This drives my husband crazy but he is still supportive of my hobbies but can be seen doing a dance when I give some away or used up lots of it.

I have done a lot of jobs both for pay and not, and enjoyed most of them but I think the most unique one is when they discovered diamonds in the north, I was one of the first 10 northerners to be trained to polish diamonds. I also went on to run the laser and that was the coolest job ever. I was the one who put the serial numbers and the company logo, a polar bear, on each and every diamond polished.

Heather Fischer

Hi, I’m Heather Fischer & I’m one of the teachers at The Paper & Ink Boutique. I’ve known Julia and Glenn for quite some time and am thrilled to call them friends and support their amazing store!

I’ve been crafting forever, always loved paper crafts in some way or another. My first official leap into card making was a heat embossing Christmas card class in the late 90’s and I’ve been addicted since then. Heat embossing continues to be one of my favourite techniques...I have at least 60 jars of powder in my collection. I’m an avid card maker, scrapbooker and enjoy finding ways to utilize my products and craftiness into home decor.

I have a mild addiction to scrapbook paper, I’m always drawn to that first and I’ve been known to buy my boys clothes to coordinate with a specific paper collection for the perfect pictures for layouts!

I’m very fortunate to have a craft room where you’ll find me at some point almost daily. Creating is a true passion and I love to share knowledge and ideas through classes and spending time with like-minded crafty peeps is the best!

Cassandra Millward

Interested in art from a young age I was always drawing or coloring or painting and took art all through school. I started in paper crafting with a love of stamping in card making and scrapbooking. During the first years sons’ life I took a break to spend time with him. When I could find time, I took a variety of classes to nurture my creative side.  I did everything from art classes to cake decorating to making homemade soaps and lotions.

During the last 5 years I have had some medical issues and found that I once again returned to my love of paper crafting as a form of therapy and expression and creativity. My style had vastly changed due to how much has changed in paper crafting over the years and new skills I had learned. I still love to bring some stamping into my art but now find myself loving the mixed media style, playing with the bold colors of alcohol ink and the soft watercolors.I enjoy creating my own backgrounds, embellishments, and household décor. I am an avid learner of new ink and paper techniques, especially if it involves something goopy, and once I have had a chance to play with any new product I love to share this knowledge with others.
